CEO Climate Dialogue Applauds Passage of the Inflation Reduction Act
August 12, 2022
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act by the U.S. House of Representatives today, the CEO Climate Dialogue, a broad-based coalition of 4 leading environmental organizations and 22 top businesses representing multiple sectors across the U.S. economy—manufacturing, utilities, agriculture and food, energy and resources, automotive, chemicals, and financial services—releases the following statement:
“The Inflation Reduction Act is the strongest legislative action ever taken by the United States to combat climate change, and we are pleased to applaud its passage.
As climate risks have continued to intensify, so has the urgency to put in place policies that will help to reduce carbon emissions, put us on path to net-zero by 2050, accelerate the transition to a low carbon economy, bolster investment and innovation in clean energy technologies, create jobs, promote equity, and increase U.S. economic competitiveness. We commend Congress for heeding this urgent call for U.S. climate action and look forward to seeing the Inflation Reduction Act signed into law by President Biden.
The Inflation Reduction Act makes significant progress toward meeting our climate goals. Combined with future action like the enactment of a price on carbon, these policies will create a strong and sustainable economy. We look forward to continuing conversations with Congress around market-based climate policies that build upon this progress and will help us to meet the scale and scope of the climate crisis.”
